What BIPA covers
The Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (740 ILCS 14, 2008) regulates the collection, storage, and use of biometric identifiers — retina/iris scans, fingerprints, voiceprints, and scans of face geometry — when they're used to identify a specific person. BIPA requires informed, written consent before such data is collected.
What we extract — and what we never do
Our AI reads color and proportion from your photo to produce style attributes: skin undertone, Monk Skin Tone level, face shape category, hair-skin-eye contrast, and your color season. These are descriptive style classifications.
What we never do: we do not generate a scan of your face geometry, a faceprint, or any biometric template. We do not run facial recognition, we do not match your face against any database, and nothing we produce can be used to identify you by your face. The output is a style report, not a biometric identifier.
How your photo is processed
Your photo is processed on our servers and by third-party AI providers that perform the image analysis and any styling-image generation on our behalf. It's stored with your account so you can return to your reports. We never use it to train our own models and we do not sell it. We process it only as described in the Privacy Policy, including with necessary service providers.
How we get your consent
We ask for your active, informed agreement before any photo is processed — and we record it:
- Before your photo is uploaded or a styling image is generated, a consent dialog appears and you actively check a box agreeing to how your photos are processed. The box is never pre-checked — you have to check it yourself before you can continue.
- The same dialog appears whenever there is no agreement on file — for example, on an older account that agreed before these terms existed.
- We keep a record of each agreement: the time you agreed and the version of these terms you agreed to. If we materially change how photos are processed, we ask again.
Retention
Your photo is kept while your account exists. Hiding or soft-deleting one report does not remove its photos from storage. To request verified account deletion and removal of associated uploaded and generated images, contact support.
We retain the consent record itself (time and terms version) as proof of when you agreed — separate from account-linked photos removed through the verified deletion process.
